I am Doctor James, implantologist. I attend the course for one of difficult step in implant surgery which is the steep learning curve for all surgeons. The course is called Khoury's technique, surgical technique is accepted as the one of the successful technique  in peri-implant bone building. So the surgeons and implantologist all over the world must to come for learning from Professor Khoury in Germany. 

This technique needs the harvesting the original bone from the posterior region of lower jaw or chin as a donor for grafting at the defect of the jaw bone which prior to placement of the implant.  

The very high success rate but surgical techniques are sensitive, so they are the pros and cons of this technique.

Another Sunday Super Special

A dream case in the life of an implantologist (clinician). Slowly but surely, another case fulfilled.

This case was done elsewhere. I removed the implant roots without any specific set kit, using only a thin piezo tip, and they came out easily. Plus, the bone didn’t overheat, so I could graft bone without infection.

I used Infuse bone graft (rh-BMP2) for the third time in four months. This technique helps reduce complications significantly. In this case, the implants in positions #32-42 had peri-implantitis because the previous dentist placed them too close together, even though they had only been in for 2-3 years.

The patient was in a hurry, so I worked fast too. I extracted #33 and immediately placed an SLActive implant. After just one month, I took impressions and quickly delivered the prosthesis.

For the extraction of #46, I placed the new DS Prime Taper implant and achieved over 45 Ncm of stability, which is quite high.

I’ll be presenting this case at the JIA Study Club, teaching how to plan implant positions to avoid failure and ensure predictability. Plus, I'll review two top implant brands.
